Create an A4 or A3 document
Select the page name instead of looking up and converting its millimetre dimensions manually.
Choose A6 through A0, US Letter, Legal or Tabloid and get the exact millimetre, centimetre, inch and pixel dimensions for either orientation.
This calculator is most useful when one part of the print specification is known and another needs to be checked.
Select the page name instead of looking up and converting its millimetre dimensions manually.
Compare ISO A-series sizes with Letter, Legal and Tabloid without assuming their proportions match.
Get the pixel width and height required at the resolution specified by a printer or publisher.
Standard paper sizes define physical dimensions. Convert millimetres to inches by dividing by 25.4, then multiply by the selected PPI to calculate pixels.
Metric results can round to the nearest whole pixel. These values describe the final sheet before any production bleed is added.
Pixel values are rounded to the nearest whole number and exclude bleed.
| Paper | Millimetres | Inches | Pixels at 300 PPI |
|---|---|---|---|
| A6 | 105 × 148 | 4.13 × 5.83 | 1240 × 1748 |
| A5 | 148 × 210 | 5.83 × 8.27 | 1748 × 2480 |
| A4 | 210 × 297 | 8.27 × 11.69 | 2480 × 3508 |
| A3 | 297 × 420 | 11.69 × 16.54 | 3508 × 4961 |
| US Letter | 215.9 × 279.4 | 8.5 × 11 | 2550 × 3300 |
| Tabloid | 279.4 × 431.8 | 11 × 17 | 3300 × 5100 |
Orientation swaps width and height but does not change the sheet area.
The finished page is approximately 2480 × 3508 pixels before bleed.
An 8.5 × 11 inch page requires exactly 2550 × 3300 pixels.
The finished sheet is approximately 1754 × 2480 pixels, useful when a lower production target is appropriate.
They differ in both dimensions and aspect ratio, so layouts can reflow or crop when moved between them.
A physical paper size does not have one fixed pixel size. Resolution must be part of the specification.
The standard sheet is the trim size. Edge-to-edge artwork may need a larger document with bleed.
At 300 PPI, A4 is approximately 2480 × 3508 pixels. At other resolutions, the pixel dimensions change.
PPI is measured per inch, so millimetres are converted through 25.4 mm per inch and the result is rounded to a whole pixel.
It uses the same two values in the opposite order. A4 landscape at 300 PPI is approximately 3508 × 2480 pixels.
