This calculator is most useful when one part of the print specification is known and another needs to be checked.
Confirm the exported document uses the intended trim dimensions before submitting it.
Spot a stray Letter page inside an A4 document or a rotated page in a multi-page file.
Read the physical dimensions when the filename or document properties are unclear.
PDF page dimensions are stored in points. The checker converts them using 72 points = 1 inch and 25.4 mm = 1 inch.
Standard names are matched with a small tolerance because applications can round page boxes slightly. Rotation is included when reporting portrait or landscape dimensions.
The checker reports the actual page box. Bleed may make a production PDF larger than its final trim size.
| Page size | Millimetres | Inches |
|---|---|---|
| A5 | 148 × 210 mm | 5.83 × 8.27 in |
| A4 | 210 × 297 mm | 8.27 × 11.69 in |
| A3 | 297 × 420 mm | 11.69 × 16.54 in |
| Letter | 215.9 × 279.4 mm | 8.5 × 11 in |
| Legal | 215.9 × 355.6 mm | 8.5 × 14 in |
| Tabloid | 279.4 × 431.8 mm | 11 × 17 in |
A page near 595 × 842 points converts to approximately 210 × 297 mm and is identified as A4 portrait.
A rotated 11 × 8.5 inch page is reported as Letter landscape.
The exported page can measure 216 × 303 mm. That is larger than A4 because bleed extends beyond the trim edge.
A print-ready PDF with bleed can be larger than the final product. Check trim marks or the printer specification.
Long documents can contain accidental mixed sizes, so review the full page table.
The page box can be correct while artwork is rotated or positioned incorrectly. Inspect the visual PDF separately.
